What is Art? What is a message? Does Art need to have a message, or can it exist without? These questions are probably as old as Art itself—and we still haven’t found a definitive answer. Until now:

“Art is communication through emotions.”

Alright, this isn’t so much a definitive answer, as it’s one more Art definition we can use to start philosophical fights with. We'll use it because of its practicality.

From this practical Art definition, we will build the Practical Art Creation and Interpretation Model. It will allow us to find the answer to the title question. Or, more precisely, the answer from this particularly practical perspective.

Along the way, we’ll overanalyze:

• what the creative process is and how it can be enhanced
• what the art experience is and what influences it
• who gets to decide if something is or isn't Art
• whether Art really needs to have a message and what Art’s message is
